Rotatory motion means that, motion of all particles of a moving body follow a circular path with respect to a fixed centre or axis.
Examples:
1. Motion of blades of ceiling fan.
2. Motion of earth around sun.
3. Motion of wheels of a bicycle.
4. Movement of Top.

The path of a moving object can be straight, curved, circular, or any irregular shape. Depending on the path of the moving object, the motions are of different types. Here, we will discuss only about rotatory motion.

Rotatory Motion :-

The motion of an object is said to be rotatory if the particles of the object rotate in a circular path with respect to an imaginary axis, known as the axis of rotation. The axis of rotation can be either inside or outside the body of the object that is spinning.

Examples of rotatory motion :
1) The blades of a ceiling fan are fixed to the body of the fan and rotate around its axis.

2) Similarly, the rotatory motion of Earth on its own axis which causes day and night.

3) Rotation of a spinning top.

4) Motion of wheels of a bicycle or a motorcycle.

5) Motion of merry-go round.

6) Motion of a turbine.
