the best easily understandable example that I can give you is
if you do some work,You spent energy.
Think of this way,You have an U-tube(the device that chemist use) filled with some liquid. Keeping this in the mind,if you Increase the level of the tube,with same amount of liquid,you can see liquid drop at the another tube.
in simpler terms ,It is inversely proportional.(As long the work and energy is considered for the same object)
