Proper Noun in Hindi

Today’s post is for our new members, who have just started to learn Hindi language. Hindi language is not very different than other language as you will find many similarities between, say English and Hindi. And this is because, Hindi has originated from Sanskrit language which is the oldest known language in Indo-European languages group which has some 3 billion native speakers and consists of world’s major languages such as Spanish, English, Hindi, Portuguese, Bengali, Russian, German, Punjabi, Marathi, French and Italian etc. The good news is that they these languages share many similarities in their grammar and in some cases, vocabulary too.
To learn Hindi or any language, getting starting with nouns (संज्ञा – Sangya) is a good idea. So, let me show you Proper Nouns in this post.
Proper nouns (व्यक्तिवाचक संज्ञा – Vyaktivaachak Sangya) are words which indicate a place, living being or thing.
For example: कृष्ण (Krishna), गंगा (Ganges), दिल्ली (Delhi), बाइबल (Bible) etc.
Let’s make some simple sentence with proper nouns. I have provided the pronunciation scheme next to Hindi sentence and their translations in English.
1. यह लालकिला है। Yeh lal kila hai – This is Red Fort.
2. मैं कल दिल्ली जा रहा हूँ। – Main kal dilli ja raha hoon – I am going to Delhi tomorrow.
3. जॉन अमेरिका से आया है। – John amerika se aaya hai – John came from America.
4. भारत में हिंदी बोली जाती है। – Bharat mein Hindi boli jati hai – Hindi is spoken in India.
5. आप का नाम क्या है? – Aap ka naam kya hai? – What is your name?
6. रात और दिन का अंतर। – Raat aur din ka antar – Difference of night and day.
7. समय के साथ चलो। – Samay ke sath chalo – Move with time.
8. आप का घर बहुत सुन्दर हैं। – Aap ka ghar bahut sundar hai – Your house is very beautiful.
9. भारत में मेरे बहुत मित्र हैं। – Bharat mein mere bahut mitr hain – I have many friends in India.
10. मेरी गाड़ी नई है। – Meri gaadi nayi hai – My car is new.
