take iron filings with sawdust on a plate. take a magnet near it and all the iron filings will stick to the magnet as a result iron and sawdust will be separated.

separating mixtures which involves using a magnet to attract another magnetic object away from the substance it is in. Some examples of separating magnetic substances from non magnetic substances are: separating iron nails from glass chippings and separating iron paper clips from brass ones.

jaanu11: u copied it
jaanu11: from somewhere
harah: ok
jaanu11: have another example plz
harah: Magnetic separation is also used in the real world.
harah: REFLECTION
harah: I think magnetic separation is a very handy technique ! Imagine accidentally mixing iodine and sand. Everyones first reaction would be 'Oh no! How on earth am I to separate these now? Might as well buy a new one.' . But with this technique, we can separate the mixture faster than you can say butterscotch !
jaanu11: who will actually have these two things together and for what
