   Examples:

   Direct Speech: She said, “I am watching a movie”.

   Indirect Speech: She said that she was watching a movie. ( Tense changed)

   Direct Speech: He says, “I am playing cricket”.

   Indirect Speech: He says that he is playing cricket. ( No change in tense)

Direct speech

The reporting of the words of the speaker without making any changes to it is known as Direct speech.

Indirect speech

Thr reporting of the worda of the speaker by making necessary changes to it is called Indirect speech.

Examples of Direct and Indirect speech

Direct: He said, "I do not like computers."

Indirect: He said that he did not liked computer.

Direct: Kamya said , " My teacher is highly educated".

Indirect: Kamya said that her teacher was highly educated.

Direct: She said, " He has finished his work."

Indirect: She said that he had finished his work.

Direct: He said, "I didn't buy a car."

Indirect: He said that he had not bought a car.

Direct: Upasna said, " I will have gone."

Indirect: Upasna said that he would have gone.
