acids are those substaces which give H+ ion in water.
if they are highly concentrated they can be corrosive.
they taste sour.
example- acetic acid, formic t, sulphuric acid, phosphorus acid

bases are those substaces which give OH- ion in water.
they are soapy to touch and bitter in taste.
they can also be corrosive when highly concentrated.
example: sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide.

acid and base react together to give salt and water.
