Women were and still are exploited by men and others. In the past, women had to live lives of torture and misery.The widows had to sit on the burning pyre of the husband ,willingly or unwillingly. The major decisions in the family were taken by men;women had no say in it. Land grants and the properties of the fathers were only given to son's, with daughters married off at a tender age.Education was meant to make the girls and women westernized and they did not have access to education .
