So the example of when force is applied but no displacement is done is:
For example, a satellite which is revolving around our earth or moon revolving around earth or our earth revolving around the sun.
In all the above examples, we can see that the force is applied by the satellite or moon or earth as these are revolving but in these case, the displacement is zero because we can see that these are moving in a circular path, theirs displacement in any short time is along the tangent to the circular path of the satellite. The force of gravity acting on the satellite or moon or earth is along the radius of the earth or sun at that point. Since a tangent is always a right angles to the radius, therefore the motion of satellite or moon or earth and force of gravity are at right angles to each other. And as we know, right angle = cos 90° and it = 0
