Answer:

Explanation:

Inertia of rest: A body tends to stay in rest if it already in the resting state. Example: An effort is required to get a heavy stone rolling, but once in motion it is relatively easy to maintain the motion.

Inertia of motion: Using the same example as above, an effort is required to stop the stone, as it has a tendency to stay in motion. Alternatively, a fan when switched off does not immediately come to rest, also because of inertia of motion.

Inertia of direction: Let's say that we rolled the boulder forward. Then there will be some intrinsic resistance of the body to being displaced in another direction, i.e to be rolled rightwards of leftwards. This is known as the inertia of direction.

Types of Inertia  :-

 Inertia of rest :

The natural tendency of objects to resist

a change in their state of rest is called inertia of rest.

E.g. We fall in the backwards direction when a bus start

suddenly from rest.

 Inertia of motion :

The natural tendency of objects to

resist a change in their state of uniform motion is called

inertia of motion.

E.g. We fall in the forward direction

when a moving bus applies brakes to a stop.

 Inertia of direction :

The natural tendency of objects to

resist a change in their direction is called inertia of

direction.

E.g. When a motorcar makes a sharp turn at a

high speed, we tend to get thrown to one side.
