Examples of magnetic forces are a compass, a motor, the magnets that hold stuff on your refrigerator, maglev trains, and many new roller coasters. When magnetic fields interact a with electrical currents, or with other moving charges in general, force can be generated. Most people are familiar with the interaction between permanent magnets--like those used to hold documents on a refrigerator. That interaction is also due to the relationship between electrical currents and the fields that they generate. In the case of permanent magnets, those currents are quantum mechanical in nature. All moving charges give rise to magnetic fields, and charges that move through regions of magnetic field experience a force. In many novel applications we are interested in the movement of a charged particle in free space, but more often we are interested moving electrons in a conductor. Electrons moving in a wire is current. Current makes a magnetic field. This is easily proven my making an electro magnet.
