On the basis of Development of Resources , they can be classified as :
1. Actual Resources
2,. Potential Resources.
Actual resources :
These are the resources whose qunatity is known and they are being used in varoius ways at present .eg: Petroleum in West Asia
Potential Resources :
These are the resources whose quantity is not known and these may not be used at present.
These resources may be of use in future.with the time ,as technology advances, we may use these resources and can turn into actual resources
.Potential Resources Found In India:
-->Uranium found in Ladakh may be used in future.
-->Some of the non conventional resources of energy like Geo thermal energy, Tidal energy ,wind energy [in some regions of India, not yet used ]

A resource is a source or supply from which benefit is obtained. There are two types of resources on the basis of development of resources.
1) Actual resources :-
The actual resources are those that have been surveyed and put to good use and their total quantity and quality is determined and they are being used in the present times.
Example of Actual resources -
# The petroleum which is obtained from Mumbai High.
# The rich deposits of coal in Ruhr in Germany.
# The dark soil of the Deccan Plateau in Maharashtra.
Potential Resources :-
Potential resources are those which can exist in a region and whose entire quantity may not be known and they are not used in the present times. These resources can be used in the near future. The level of technology we have at present may not be advanced enough to easily utilize these resources.
Examples of Potential resources -
# Uranium found in Ladakh is a potential resource which can be used in the near future.
# The water falls and rivers in Africa continent where huge amount of electricity can be generated.
# Reserves of mineral oil may exist in many parts of India where sedimentary rocks are found but it is not used so it will remain as potential resource.
# Wind and solar energy
# Tidal energy
# Geothermal Energy
