1.physical state-sodium and potassium are soft while metal are hard and solid
mercury is liquid inspite being a metal
2.melting and boiling points-sodium and potassium have low melting points while metals have high melting and boiling point
3.malleability and ductility-zinc is neither malleable nor ductile although all metals are malleable and ductile
4.thermal conductivity-mercury and lead are poor conducters of heat although metals are good conductors of heat
5.density- sodium and potassium have low densities while all metals have high density
6.colour-metals are silver grey or golden yellow in colour but copper is reddish brown
NON-METALS
1.hardness-non metals are soft but diamond,an allotrope of carbon is hardest substance known
2.lustre-non metals are non lustrous but iodine and graphite,an allotrope of carbon are lustrous
3.electrical conductivity-non metals are bad conductors but graphite is good conductor.
