Fossil fuels burn to produce carbondioxide. This gas is a greenhouse gas. It helps to retain the heat in the atmosphere. Therefore, ii raises the temperature of the earth...

There are many reasons behind this. But the main reason is formation of a layer of green house gases (carbon dioxide, methane) which are release on burning of the fossil fuels. This layer allows the ⛅ Rays to enter earth but don't allow them to escape Earth's atmosphere.
