One of the most powerful rulers of the khalji Dynasty, Alauddin Khalji declared himself the king after conspiring and subsequently assassinating his paternal uncle and Sultan Jalauddin Khalji.
After ascending to the throne, the initial two attacks by the Mongols where dominated by Khalji’s army.
They faced one defeat to the Mongols in 1303, henceforth, Alauddin’s forces never lost a battle against them.
