Answer:

1) let the smaller number be x

and the greater number be y

by first condition,

x-y=4-(i)

by second condition,

6x=4y

6x-4y=0-(ii)

multiply equation (i) by 6

x-y=4

x6

6x-6y=24-(iii)

subtracting equation (i) and (ii)

6x-4y=0

-6x+6y= -24

2y= -24

y= -24/2

y= -12

put y= -12 in equation(i)

x-y=4

x-(-12)=4

x+12=4

x=4-12

x= -8
