Exercise 18. Write whether the following sentences are simple,
or complex:
1. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had gone
to address a gathering.
2. There he was profusely garlanded by the people.
3. Since he needed money for the Indian National Army,
he decided to auction those garlands.
4. People were keen to help Netaji, so they made high
bids for each garland.
5. The bid for one garland touched * 5 lakh.
6. Suddenly one excited young man got up and offered
his entire land and property in the bidding.
7. Although Netaji was touched by his sentiments,
he was unwilling to accept the offer.
8. He discouraged the young man from making such a
great sacrifice, but the young man remained firm on
his decision.
9. He said that he held the freedom of his country mor
valuable than his life.
10. He added that if Netaji could dedicate his entire life
to the freedom struggle, he too could make a small
sacrifice.
11. Netaji had to accept his offer.
12. All the people who witnessed this scene were insp
by the young man's noble example.​
