Given : p(x) = x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3   & g(x) = x² - 2  Divide p(x) by g(x)

To find : Quotient & remainder

Solution:

p(x) = x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3

g(x) = x² - 2

                x  - 3

x² - 2  _|  x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3    |_

               x³          -2x

             _____________

                     -3x²  + 7x  - 3

                      -3x²         + 6

                       ___________

                                 7x  - 9

Quotient = x - 3

Remainder = 7x - 9
