Step-by-step explanation:
present age
Let Aftabs age be x
Let his daughters age be y
seven years ago
Aftabs age was x-7
daughters age was y-7
three years hence
abtabs age will be x+3
daughters age will be y+3
x-7 = 7*(y-7)
x-7 = 7y -49
x-7y= -42 ------------(1)
x+3=3*(y+3)
x+3 = 3y+9
x-3y=6 ----------------(2)
x-7y= -42
x-3y=6
-4y = -36
y=-36/-4 = 12
x-3*12=6
x=6+36
=42
therefore aftabs age = 42
daughters age=12

Answer:
Let age of aftab be ' x ' and the age of his daughter be ' y '.
According to your question
x - 7 = 7(y - 7)
x - 7 = 7y - 49
x - 7y = -49+7
x - 7y = -42 ----> 1
Then,
x + 3 = 3(y + 3)
x + 3 = 3y + 9
x - 3y = 9 - 3
x - 3y = 6 ----> 2
solving 1 & 2
x - 7y = -42
x - 3y = 6
- + -
-------------------
-4y = -48
y = 48/4
y = 12
substitute the value of y = 12 in equation 1
x - 7y = -42
x - 7(12) = -42
x - 84 = -42
x = -42+ 84
x = 42
So the age of Aftab is x = 42 years and the age of his daughter is y = 12 years..
