age of her daughter -- y

algebraically,

(x-7) = 7(y-7)

x - 7 = 7y - 49

x -7y + 42 = 0 ... equation 1

(x+3) = 3(y+3)

x + 3 = 3y + 9

x - 3y - 6 = 0 .... equation 2

now solving both the equation by substitution method

x - 3y - 6 = 0

x = 6 + 3y

substituting this value in equation 1

x - 7y + 42 = 0

6 +3y - 7y + 42 = 0

48 - 4y = 0

48 = 4y

48/4 = y

12 = y

now substituting value of y in eqⁿ 2

x - 3y - 6 = 0

x - 3(12) -6 = 0

x - 36 - 6 = 0

x - 42 =0

x = 42
