एक बार एक किसान अपने द्वार पर खड़ा हुआ था। तभी एक भूखा फकीर वहाँ आया और उसने किसान
से कुछ खाने को मांगा। किसान ने कहा, “मेरे पास तुम्हें देने के लिए कुछ नहीं है।" फिर फकीर ने पीने
के लिए पानी मांगा। किसान ने फकीर को गाली दी और वहाँ से चले जाने को कहा। दुःखी फकीर वहाँ से
चला गया। कुछ दिनों के बाद किसान जंगल में रास्ता भूल गया। किसान ने एक फकीर की झोंपड़ी देखी
और वहाँ गया। किसान उससे अपने घर का रास्ता पूछने लगा। फकीर ने कहा, “वह तो बहुत दूर है और
सूरज डूबने को है। झोंपड़ी में रात व्यतीत कीजिए। यदि आप जंगल में ठहरेंगे तो जंगली जानवर आपको
खा जायेंगे।" अतः किसान ने रात उसी झोंपड़ी में बिताई। प्रातःकाल फकीर उस किसान को रास्ता दिखाते
हुए उसके साथ गया। रास्ते में फकीर ने उससे पूछा, “क्या आप मुझे पहचानते हैं?" किसान ने फकीर को
