To find : given  number will come in counting sequence or not

Solution:

counting by hundreds

start counting at 467

=> 467 + 100n      n = 1 , 2 , 3..............

767 = 467 + 100n

=> 300 = 100n

=> n = 3

=> YES  , 767 will be counted

counting by fives

start counting at 635

=> 635 + 5n      n = 1 , 2 , 3..............

660 =  635 + 5n

=>25 = 5n

=> n = 5

=> YES  , 660 will be counted

counting by tens

start counting at 249

=> 249 + 10n      n = 1 , 2 , 3..............

350 = 249 + 10n

=>101 = 10n

=> n = 101/10 = 10.1  ( not an integer)

=> No ,  350 will not be counted

counting back by hundreds.

Start at 540

=> 540 - 100n    n = 1 , 2 , 3..............

=> 40  =540 - 100n

=> -500 = -100n

=> n = 5

YES  , 40 will be counted
