Steps to draw a perpendicular from a given point

  1. Draw a line segment of length 7cm
  2. Take any random point P on the line segment
  3. Take a compass and just take a radius of any unknown length
  4. Then put the pointer of the compass on P
  5. Make a semi-circle with it on P
  6. Now replace the point of the compass to and one side of the semi-circle which touches the line segment AB
  7. Make 2 arcs on each side of the line segment as shown in the attachment
  8. Now replace the pointer of the compass to the other side of the semi-circle and repeat the same step given above
  9. Now with the help of a scale align all the 3 points in a single straight line and draw a line on it

This line makes an angle of 90° with the point P
