Let x be table and y be chair

Equation:

2x+3y=3500 ______(i)

3x+2y=4000 _____ (ii)

Solving eqn (i)

2x+3y=3500

Can as well be written as

2x=3500–3y

x=[3500–3y]÷2 ____ (iii)

Using equation (iii) to solve equation (iii)

3x+2y=4000

Since we now know x,

3([3500–3y]÷2)+2y=4000

By solving the equation, will have,

10500–9y+4y=8000

Or,

9y-4y=10500–8000

⇒ 5y=2500

y=500

Hence,taking any of the 3 equations can give us the value of x

3x+2y=4000

3x+(2×500)=4000

3x+1000=4000

3x=4000–1000

3x=3000

x=1000

Thus,a table cost Rs.1000
