Answer:

The man's original salary was Rs. 140000.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Percentage increase in a salary = 10%

                                   His new salary = Rs. 154000

To find : The original salary of man =?

Solution :

  • It is given that a man got 10% increase in his salary.

                     His new salary = Rs. 154000

  • We have to find his original salary.
  • Let, x be the man's original salary.
  • According to given condition, the equation becomes,

              10% of x+x=154000

              ∴ \frac{10}{100} *x+x=154000

                     ∴ \frac{10x+100x}{100} = 154000

                         ∴ \frac{110x}{100} =154000

                          ∴ 110x=154000*100

                               ∴ x=\frac{15400000}{110}

                               ∴ x=140000

  • ∴ The man's original salary was Rs. 140000.
