1. The medieval period saw the emergence of a socially and economically diverse society in which jati or caste played an important role. Jati or caste established a social hierarchy. Ranking of a person in the society was determined by the caste to which he/she belonged. On the basis of jatis, jati panchayats were formed.

2. The Tripartite Struggle for control of northern India took place in the ninth century. The struggle was between the Pratihara Empire, the Pala Empire and the Rashtrakuta Empire. Epigraphist Dineschandra Sircar, however, added a different perspective to this struggle.

3. The 500-year period from the 7th century A.D. to the 12th century A.D. (i.e., till the arrival of Muslim Turks) may be called the Rajput period. The Rajput Period was considered as the Dark Age of India. They were concentrated in Rajasthan and some central parts of India.

4.Mahmud Ghazni commonly known as Mahmud of Ghazni , who ruled Ghazni from 971 to 1030 AD. So to plunder the wealth of India he made very first attack in 1001. He attacked India 17 times on India. He made his 16th attack on the Somnath temple in 1025 just to plunder the gold.

5. He also had the desire to spread Islam in India by conquering the Hindus of the country. His invasions in India were: Conquest of Multan and Sindh, 1175-1178: The first invasion of Muhammad Ghori was in 1175 AD when he attacked Multan, defeated the ruling Ismailian Heretics and was successful in capturing Multan.
