Answer: The answers are-
(1)Matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume. Three examples of matter are Gas, Solid and Liquid.
(2)The phenomenon of change from one state of matter to another, and then back to the original state is called the Interconversion of states of matter.
(3)Sublimation is the transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas state, without passing through the liquid state. Two examples are Dry ice and Snow.
(4) Atoms are made up of three main parts: protons, neutrons and electrons.
(6) Dont know this one.
Q2.(1)Gas cannot be seen while vapours are visible. Gas is a state of matter while vapour is a substance diffused or suspended in the air, especially one normally liquid or solid.
(2)Metals are lustrous, malleable, ductile, good conductors of heat and electricity. Other properties include: State: Metals are solids at room temperature with the exception of mercury, which is liquid at room temperature (Gallium is liquid on hot days). Elements: Gold; Copper; Potassium
(3)Have wide range of melting and boiling point. Generally are bad conductors of heat and electricity exception is graphite which is good conductor. They are generally brittle exception being diamond. Oxides are generally acidic in nature. Examples- Carbon, Oxygen and Sulphur.
(5)A homogeneous mixture is a solid, liquid or gaseous mixture that has the same proportions of its components throughout any given sample. Conversely, a heterogeneous mixture has components in which proportions vary throughout the sample.
Examples of homogeneous mixtures are air, saline solution and most alloys.
Of heterogeneous mixtures- Chocolate chip cookies, Concrete and Sand and Sugar.
