Exlain Why K2Cr2O7 is orange in acidic and yellow in basic medium.

- While in acidic medium, potassium dichromate forms dichromate ions (Cr₂O₇²⁻). These dichromate ions are orange in colour.

- These chromate and dichromate ions are interconvertible depending upon the pH of the solution.
