Answer:

A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured circular arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun

  • The beautiful phenomenon of the rainbow is a combination of different phenomena namely dispersion of light , internal reflection and refraction of light.

  • The rainbow appears in the sky after a rain shower.

  • The water droplets act as small prisms

  • When sunlight enters the water droplet present in the atmosphere , they refract andd disperse the incident sunlight. That results in a spectrum.

  • Then the light rays get reflected internally inside the droplet and finally again refract it.

  • As a collective effect of all these phenomena , the seven coloured rainbow is observed.

  • In the morning , rainbow can be seen towards west in the evenjng , it can be seen towards the East.
