In Young's double-slit experiment using monochromatic light of
wavelength lambda, the intensity of light at a point on the screen where
path difference is lambda, is K units. What is the intensity of light at a
point where path difference is 1/3?

Answer:

It is given that,

intensity, Io=K

we know that,

I=Io cos²/2

where,=2π/lambda×x

x=path difference

=2π/lambda×lambda/3

=2π/3

substitute the phase difference in the above equation,

I=Io cos²2π/3×2

I=Io cos²π/3

I=1/4

I=K/4
