Heat in solids is realized because of the thermal vibrations of the atoms. More the kinetic energy of the atoms greater will be the temperature of the solid. Now when a region of the solid is given a heat, the immediate layer of atoms of that regions begins to vibrate about their mean positions. This layer of atoms transfer the vibration to the next layer of atoms and so on. Hence heat flows through the solid which we call conduction.
