Evergreen forest - They receive heavy rainfall. These forests are dense in nature & their trees shed their leaves at different times so, always appears green. They are also known as Tropical rain forests.

Evergreen Forest :
1)Lofty, dense, multi layered forests.
2)Average height of trees is between 45-60 metres.
3)Trees have broad leaves.
4)Different trees shed their leaves at different times of the year, so they are called 'Evergreen'.
5)Trees form a canopy and don't allow sunrays to reach the ground.
6)There is an undergrowth of canes, bamboos, ferns, climbers, etc.
7)Ebony, Mahogany, Rosewood, etc. are the variety of trees found in this forest.
Deciduous Forest :
1)Deciduous Forests spread on a larger area than Evergreen Forests.
2)The average height of trees is 25-60 metres.
3)The trees shed their leaves for 6-8 weeks during summer.
4)The tress allow enough sunlight to reach the ground and facilitates growth of climbers.
5)Teak, sal, sandalwood, shisham and many other trees are found in this forests.

Tropical Deciduous forest:-
1. Areas:-These forest are found in South and South-east Asia, Central America, Parts of Brazil, East Africa and Northern Australia.
2. Characteristics:-
a) The trees are of medium height and shed their leaves in the dry season.
b) The trees in these forest are commercially very valuable. Some of the important trees are teak, sal,sandalwood, shisham, bamboo and eucalyptus.
3. Wildlife:-The wildlife in the deciduous forest includes tigers, elephants, leopards, bears, monkeys, deer, rhinoceroses and variety of snakes.
Tropical evergreen forests:-
1.Areas:- These forests are found in the Equatorial region- the Amazon and the Orinoco river basins in South America, the Zaire river basin in Africa and in South-east Asia.
2. Characteristics :- These forests are also called rainforests or selva.
a) The trees are tall with hardwood and broad leaves that form a thick canopy at the top.
b) Ebony, mahogany rosewood, rubber and cinchona are the most important trees are found in these forests.
