Step-by-step explanation:

We can use pythagoras theorem to solve the given problem easily.

It is given that the top of the broken part is 24m distant from the ground hence in the right angled triangle so formed the hypotenuse is 24-7(the length of the tree is given as 24m long so the length of the broken part will be 24-7)m long.

Also it is given that the unbroken part is 7m tall, so the height of the right angled triangle so formed is 7m tall.

(i) 24-7 = 17m

(ii) 24m

(iii) First we have to find the distance between B and C which is the distance between the top of the broken part to the bottom of the tree

By pythagoras theorem

AC² = AB² + BC²

⇒ AC² - AB² = BC²

⇒ 17² - 7² = BC²

⇒ BC² = 289 - 49

⇒ BC² = 240

⇒ BC = √240 = 15.49

Perimeter of the triangle formed = AB(length of unbroken part of the tree) + BC(length of broken part of the tree) + AC(distance between the top of the broken part to the bottom of the tree)

= 17 + 7 + 15.49 = 39.49m
