(a-b)^2 = a^2+b^2-2ab

in your question a=0.9p and b=0.5q

(0.9p-0.5q)^2 = (0.9p)^2 + (0.5q)^2 - 2(0.9p)(0.5q)

                      = 0.81p^2 + 0.25q^2 - 0.9pq

(0.9p-0.5q)²
apply identity ,
(a-b)²
a²+b²-2ab
by applying this identity,
we get,
(0.9)²+(0.5)²-2×0.9×0.5
0.81+0.25-0.45
0.81-0.20
=0.61 answer
