We know that:

 {a + b + c}^{2}  = {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  +  {c}^{2}  + 2(ab + bc + ca)

Using this identity,

 {(2a +b +  \frac{c}{2} ) }^{2}  \\  = 4 {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  +  \frac{ {c}^{2} }{4}  + (2)(2a)(b) + (2)(b)( \frac{c}{2}) + (2)(c)(a) \\  = 4 {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  +   \frac{ {c}^{2} }{4}  + 4ab + bc + 2ca
