AMIS stands for Antibody-Mediated Immune System and CMIS stands for Cell-Mediated Immune System.

Definition of Immunity

The ability of a body to resist or eliminate potentially harmful substances, organisms, and cells is called immunity. The immune system of our body has two components, Innate and Adaptive Immunity.

Types of Adaptive or Acquire immunity:

  • This type of immunity is composed of specialized cells that carry out the immune process. Acquired immunity is developed in an organism after the onset of exposure to the causative reason.
  • they are of two types, humoral immunity or Antibody-Mediated Immune System(AMIS), which is based on antibody production by lymphocytes called the plasma cells.
  • The second type is the Cell-Mediated Immune System(CMIS), in this, the activated lymphocytes act directly with the invades or the pathogenic/ harmful substances.

Hence, the AMIS and the CMIS are the subtypes of Adaptive immunity, which the organism acquires after it is exposed to the factor that can cause disease.
