Let's solve each expression one by one:-

a) 3(x+4)(x-2)

Open the brackets:-

=3(x² - 2x + 4x - 8)

Add the like terms:-

= 3(x² + 2x - 8)

= 3x² + 6x - 24

b) (x + 4)²

Use the identity - ( a + b )² = a² + b² + 2ab

= (x)² + (4)² + 2(x)(4)

= x² + 16 + 8x
