Correct question :

(x + \frac{1}{x} )^2

Answer :

Using identity - ( a + b )^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab

According to the question :

a = x , b = ( \frac{1}{x} )

Solving :

(x + \frac{1}{x} )^2 = x^2 + ( \frac{1}{x} )^2 + ( 2 × x × \frac{1}{x} )

x^2 + \frac{1}{x}^2 + 2

( x + ( \frac{1}{x} )^2)

x^2 + 2 + \frac{1}{x}^2
