Coastal Tamil Nadu was attacked by Gaja on 16 November which causes more disaster than Tsunami of December 2004 and response of Union government has been one of negligency.

PM Narendra Modi and any senior colleagues felt requirement to make atleast an aerial survey to see big changes occured by Gaja.  

7 member ministerial team lead by an official from Union home ministry made a proforma visit to cyclone-affected districts and gave good certificate to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy for undertaking “safety measures” and left.

Timely evacuation of people from dangerous regions kept death toll below 100 inspite of its high intensity.  

As per revenue minister RB Udhayakumar  damage caused by Gaja was “beyond our imagination” and it will take years for people to get back on feet.  

1000 of roadside trees were fallen down blocking traffic.

30,900 electricity poles were damaged cutting of power and water supply in affected regions.  

While relief materials from philanthropists and corporate entities poured in absence of local, national and voluntary organisations hampered spreading.  

2 days after cyclone heavy rains followed helping agricultural fields in Cauvery delta region.
