i use a really easy method to do this in one go without having to go through tons of working.

1) square the first digit in the bracket

=x^2

2)square the last digit in the bracket.

= 9

*NOTE THAT ANY NEGATIVE SQUARE NUMBER BECOMES POSITIVE WHEN SQUARED

now you're left with x^2-  +9

to get the middle number, you multiply the first digit by the last digit (x*2=2x), then multiply your answer by 2 (rule). this will give u -6x ! (the negative sign after the x in the equation stays the same.)

so final answer is: x^2-6x+9
