Answer:

This is written like (a-b)(a-b) = (a-b)² = a²-2ab+b².

hence, (y-{3/y})(y-{3/y}) = (y-{3/y})²

= y² - 2(y)(3/y) + (9/y²)

= y² - 6 + 9/y².
