Expansion of idea on honesty is the best policy

Honesty, the quality of being honest, is a value which can be defined in multiple ways. In the context of human communication, people are generally said to be honest when they tell the truth to the best of their knowledge and do not hide what they know or think. Apart from being truthful, honesty is also generally thought to involve abstaining from unfair behavior, such as stealing or cheating on a test. It is the quality to tell the truth when it is not easy to tell. I’d like to tell you a little story to illustrate my point. Once a General Manager wanted to test his people about their values of life. He gave each one of them a pouch which contained a seed. He asked them to plant it in a pot and return after 3 months and best plants would be suitably rewarded. After 3 months, there were hundreds of pots with beautiful and variety of flowers except one pot in which there was no plant! The owner was standing quietly and seemingly ashamed of himself! The general manager called the man on stage who was feeling ashamed and asked him what happened and he told him that he planted the seed - but nothing happened! The general manager declared him the winner! Everyone was shocked GM revealed that he had given boiled seeds to everyone which couldn’t germinate. Everybody except this man has cheated by changing the seed.

We live in society. We have to deal with many persons daily. If we are not fare in our dealings with others, we are not trusted by others.

We must be honest in our dealings with others. An honest man is straightforward and upright in speech and behaviour.

He does not tell lies. He does not try to cheat others. He never steals anything. He does not neglect his duty.

Honesty is one of the greatest virtues of man. It has an important place in human life. It is the foundation of good character.

An honest man is loved and respected by all. A dishonest man may prosper in practical life but in the long run he has to suffer.

As a matter of fact honesty is the best policy.
