A machine needs two types of components in order to function. We have a stockpile of nntype-11 components and mm type-22 components. Type-11 components last for an exponential time with rate μiμi before failing. Compute the mean length of time the machine is operative if a failed components is replaced by one the same type from the stockpile; that is, compute

where the Xt,YtXt,Yt have exponential distribution with rates μ1,μ2μ1,μ2 respectively.
Now put the values in the formula.
