Answer:

According to the Question

It is given that,

  • Length ,l = 10cm
  • Breadth ,b = 8cm

We have to calculate the perimeter of rectangle when

(i) Length & breadth are doubled .

After doubling the length and breadth

→ New Length ,l = 2×10 = 20cm

→ New Breadth ,b = 2×8 = 16

Now, calculating its Perimeter .

  • Perimeter = 2(Length + breadth)

On substituting the value we get

↠ Perimeter = 2 (20+16)

↠ Perimeter = 2(36)

↠ Perimeter = 72 cm

  • Hence, the perimeter of rectangle when its length & breadth are doubled is 72 cm.

(ii) When its length & breadth are halved

→ New length = 10/2 = 5cm

→ New Breadth = 8/2 = 4 cm

Now, calculating its Perimeter

  • Perimeter = 2 ( length + breadth)

On substituting the value we get

↠ Perimeter = 2 ( 5 + 4 )

↠ Perimeter = 2 (9)

↠ Perimeter = 18 cm

  • Hence, the perimeter of rectangle when its length & breadth are halved is 18 cm.
