Recollections Of A Moonlit Night In A Forest Guest House
My stay at the forest house in Khajjiar will always remain etched
indelibly on my mind. Its recollections evoke supernal feelings of peace,
tranquility, and ecstasy. I thank God even unto this day for having granted me
the serendipitous opportunity to visit this small paradise. We reached Khajjiar
just before the sunset. I had succeeded to book a room in the Forest Guest
House. The panorama of the place is just heavenly. The guest house is situated
on the brink of the pristine forest. In front is the beautiful view of the
green-carpeted valley which is shaped like a shallow bowl. Exactly in the
middle of the dale was a tiny lake. As I wandered about the guest house just
before the dark I saw always a feast of green beauty all around. Tall trees
stood majestically hugging each other making a green canopy of leaves and didn’t
allow the sun rays to touch the ground and the undergrowth. The ground was
covered under the green carpet woven by grass, moss, lichen, trailing plants
and climbers. A forest is a perfect paradise of purity and beauty devoid of
air, sound, water or any other type of pollution and other toxic substances. In
this green Elysium played and frisked all the innocent and beautiful animals.
Squirrels skipped from one branch to another; rabbits peeped from behind
hedges; deer grazed in sublime serenity. There was a perfect harmony of sight
and sound. Divine beauty and dulcet melody of birds soothed my soul. As it grew
dark, I saw the beauty of heaven in the night sky. The serene sky was studded
with countless diamond-like stars. I had never seen such a splendor in the city
(as the city sky is usually veiled behind thick clouds of smoke and smog. I remained
looking at the wonder for hours; and then I fell asleep in the lap of nature.
thanks
