Experiment No. 6
Date
Aim : - To verify the law of conservation of mars in a chemical reaction.
Materials Required: - Barium Chloride, Sodium Sulphate, ignition tube, cork, comical flask,
thread and weighing scale.
Theory:-BaCl,+Na,SO, → Baso, +2 NaCl.
BaSO, is a white precipitate
Procedure :-
Take 10 ml of sodium sulphate in a conical flask.
Take 10 ml of Barium Chloride in on ignition tube and tower it in the conical flask and put
the cork on the flask.
Weigh the flask with contents carefully.
Tilt and swirl the flask to that sodium sulphate and barium chloride mix well.
Observe the chemical reaction and after about five minutes weigh the flask again.
Observation Table :
1.
Weight of the flask along
with the ignition tube
with the chemicals before
the chemical reaction =
b
Weight of the flask after
the chemical reaction
is complete with the =
contents.

Conclusion :
1
Since no mass is produced or destroyed during a chemical reaction, it proves the law
of conservation of mass.
Precautions :
1.
The cork on the conical flask should be tightly fitted.
2.
Carefully weigh the conical flask before and after the chemical reaction.
