‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ Preparation of Soap

Aim :

  • To prepare Soap in laboratory.

Materials Required :

  • 10gms. of vegetable oil, 20ml. of 6M NaOH, 20ml. of 95% Ethyl alcohol and 40gms. of NaCL.

Principle :

  • Oils on saponification form soap.

Procedure :

  • Take 10gms. of vegetable oil in a breaker and add 20ml. of 6M sodium hydroxide. Heat the mixture for 30 minutes without boiling.
  • Then add the mixture of 20ml. of 95% Ethyl alcohol and 20ml. of water.Stir the mixture and cool in an Ice bath for 10 minutes.
  • Filter the presipitated soap with a cloth. Wash the filtered soap with ice cold water, dry and place in a glass tray.

Result :

  • Soap is prèpared.
