The water holding capacity of the soil is the total amount of water it can hold, and is dependent on the organic matter in the soil and its particle size/soil texture. The normal water holding capacity of the soil is 60-80%. When the capacity falls below 60%, the soil becomes dry. When it is higher than 80%, there will a depletion of oxygen in the soil. Both situations will make our plants suffer.
