How does deforestation affects the soil

Trees have roots spread several meters away from them and due to large surface area the soil beneath is held together. But when we cut down trees the strength of roots decreases or when the tree is uprooted the soil becomes loose can be easily carried away.

The tree holds the soil through its roots when the trees are cut off they are not able to hold the soil any more.  Mark my ans the brainliest  Pls
