Paragraph 4:Today many people believe that the Electoral College is out of date and that Presidents should be chosen by direct election, just as members of Congress are selected. Currently, state electors vote for the candidate that the people selected in the general election during state conventions; but, they are not necessarily bound to do so.

Well it tell us that electoral college is outdated in USA or any other developed countries. In earlier times most people were illiterate. So there was need for electoral college but nowadays in this developed countries people are well educated and thier literacy rate is high. So they are eligible and efficient to vote thier own government. Unlike developing countries where people vote for chicken, mutton and quarter.
