But the farmers save the plants from this 'crime' by using the concept of neutralization reaction. The farmers add bases to the soil, like quick lime and slaked lime, to neutralize the acids in the soil.

✩ Sometimes, it may happen that the soil be too basic. Yet, the plants can be saved by adding compost, containing acidic substances, to the soil.
